South Congregational Church tickets & upcoming events

Looking for a spot with a bit of history and a warm community vibe? South Congregational Church in East Hartford has been a local staple for years. It’s the kind of place where you can catch the annual Easter sunrise service right on its front steps, something folks have been doing since 1925, rain or shine. I mean, it’s pretty incredible how every year the crowd gathers early, bundled up or not, just to watch the sun creep up over the Hartford skyline. Back in 1976, they threw a big centennial bash, complete with a lively parade through town featuring marching bands and local groups that made you feel proud to be part of East Hartford. Over the years, the church has seen some notable pastors like Reverend John Smith, who served from 1970 to 1985, and Reverend Lisa Brown, who’s been leading the congregation since 2010. If you’re thinking of visiting, driving from the east along the Connecticut River or coming in from the south via Burnside Avenue are your best bets, trust me, it’s pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. Whether you’re stopping by for a concert or just to soak in the local history, South Congregational Church offers a little something for everyone and makes you feel right at home. Plus, their seating charts are super handy if you’re aiming for that perfect spot, be it a candlelight concert or a family-friendly event, so don’t miss out on creating some memorable moments there.
